TEE Field is an internal app we built for our own employees. It goes out privately through Apple Business Manager to company-managed devices, and it is not available to the general public. This page explains, in plain language, what the app collects and what we do with it.
Who uses the app
Only Thomas Edison Electric field technicians, signed in with their company Microsoft work account. There is no public sign-up.
What the app collects
- Audio recordings of service visits. Technicians record on-site visits so we can review quality and coach them. Recording starts only after the technician confirms the customer agreed on-site. Pennsylvania and Florida require everyone's consent, and the app is built around that rule.
- Employee identity. The technician's name, work email, and a user identifier from their Microsoft sign-in, so visits and scores land with the right person.
- Job and schedule details. Appointment information such as the customer's name, address, and job type, pulled from our dispatch system and shown to the technician for their workday.
- Device and app status. Basic device details like model, app version, and connectivity, so our office can keep the field devices healthy.
How recordings are used
Recordings travel over encrypted connections (HTTPS) to our own systems, where they are transcribed and scored so the technician gets useful coaching. Access is limited to the technician involved and authorized company staff. That is the whole purpose. Recordings are never used for advertising or tracking.
Customer consent
Before recording, our technician tells the customer the visit will be recorded for quality and training, and asks if that is okay. If the customer says no, the visit simply is not recorded. Customers who have questions about a recording can reach us using the contact details below.
How long we keep things
Recordings and related records stay only as long as we need them for quality assurance, training, and legitimate business purposes, then they are deleted. Employees and customers can ask us to show or delete their information at any time.
Security
Data moves over encrypted connections and lives on access-controlled company systems. The app itself runs on company-managed devices enrolled in our device management.
Children
TEE Field is a tool for our employees. It is not directed at children.
Changes to this policy
